After completing her MBBS at Stanley Medical College, Chennai and MD in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal , Dr. Usha Vishwanath joined Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute, Chennai as Tutor in OBGYN in October 1995. She has been serving this institution since then and is currently Professor of OBGYN. In addition she has completed advanced training in tubal microsurgery and has been awarded the Diploma in Hospital Administration by National Institute of Health & Family Welfare, New Delhi.

She is an active member of the Medical Education Unit at Sri Ramachandra University and coordinates the Professional development classes titled PRODEV,, a training medical students on professional development.
